because of the university's anniversary, zachary had monday (buddha's birthday) and tuesday off. we met tim and baek at gwangjang market to do a little vintage clothing shopping.
arrow hates shopping, so i rarely get to go. but thankfully all the vendors were keeping him preoccupied.
afterwards, we walked through the market...
and stopped for some bindaetteok, pancakes made from mung beans.
mmm. mmm. mmm.
and though i was sharing food with arrow, he was more into sucking on his toes. dear lord.

it was zachary's and buddha's birthday on monday, and so we made sure to celebrate the occasion. we hiked up bureumsan with friends, had a picnic on a small peak, later made homemade pizzas for dinner, and ended with a campfire. it was such a great day.
gibby met a long-antennaed friend.
i know i always talk in the superlative, but for real: this man was selling THE coldest and THE best melon pops i've ever had. and can you believe this man hiked up the mountain with a heavy freezer packed full of popsicles, and was still charging the same price of 1,000 won like every family mart. i tell you, this country is awesome.
check out the dad-skills on zachary...feeding his son that popsicle.
susan greenwood, you would have been in melon-pop-heaven.
made it to the small peak. our friend, baek (red dress) was relieved.
the perfect place for lunch.

a night out in nowon for a family favorite, seolleongtang. shinseon seolleongtang, a korean chain, has THE best kkakdugi (radish kimchi) i've ever tasted, and their beef soup?...sweet jesus... it's ridiculously tasty.
arrow wasn't too happy that we had to wait for the soup to cool.
lanterns were up in preparation for buddha's birthday.
and though neon crosses are abundant in this country, this gigantic one takes the cake.
