zachary turned 30. pecan pie, mocha cake and dr. pepper floats. that's how we roll. zachary got the only root beer float, thanks to our friends: agatha who, a few days back, got us all a can of root beer from itaewon (korea's mini america) and jade & joseph for saving their can and giving it up to the birthday man.

visitors! we spent the morning and early afternoon with kun-wesamchun (my mom's oldest brother) and kun-wesuma who were visiting from chicago. saechung unni took us to lunch at a restaurant with 5 or 6 or 7 courses. i stopped counting after round 3.

we're lucky to have family here and family visiting. especially to help celebrate occasions like birthdays. seeing wesuma and wesamchun meant a lot to us.

lots of photos from our roadtrip.
snippets will be posted here and there.
feeling a little lazy with the uploading process...

resting under some good lookin' trees before heading back to seoul.

i asked the man in blue if he could take our photo under the tree.
we had a weird exchange:

man (in an excited voice): you kazakhstan?
me: no?
man (still excited): uzbekistan?
me: no?

he then took our photo, went back to his store, back to hanging out with his friends who were sitting in a little room getting drunk in the early afternoon. as i was walking to the car to grab the roadmap, the gang of men stopped me and asked, "you korean? no!?" they then sat me down and poured me a drink. we all ended up hanging out with them as they fed us hard-boiled eggs, korean pancakes and popsicles. this is how we ended our trip....hanging out with some koreans who laughed a lot and just wanted to feed a bunch of foreigners, even if we weren't from kazakhstan.
