during the crazy month of intensives, we got a monday off, and decided to get out of the city for the weekend. we took the ktx to wolchulsan, the smallest national park in south korea. we were on our way to the town of yeongam to do some hiking the following day.

9:00 PM the bus station at yeongam. definitely far from seoul.

a saturday night in yeongam includes chickens roasting, a man chiseling out a store sign and a whole lot of cicadas buzzing.

our minbak. korea loves their wallpaper.

the next morning started early, with a bimbimbop breakfast.
we checked out the park's map painting and got all the important tips/warnings we needed before the big hike.

wolchulsan's suspension bridge. not as scary as i thought it would be.

mountain climbers. can you see them?

it was insanely hot. but a beautiful, clear day.

feel the burn.

windy mountain path.

maybe the smallest national park, but definitely one of the prettiest i've seen.

we made it to wolchulsan's highest peak: chonwhangbong!

we only brought a small bottle of water that was empty by the time we reached the peak. the woman with the towel over her head gave us the rest of her icy cold water. we must've looked pathetically dehydrated.

a moment of reflection, i guess.

there were all kinds of bugs at the top of the mountain.

the six brothers.
